This is an excuse for me to show off some of my old pictures. You see, I have a problem. I love taking pictures. Unfortunately, I’m not particularly fond of editing those photographs or releasing them in a hurry. So, as a result, I have a huge number of files that are just taking up space on my hard drive and not really doing anybody any good.
This is my family-in-law's dog, Daisy. She's a sweet old Shih Tzu that just loves to eat, snort, and lay in the sunlight. Just before we left for South Korea, we spent about a week in San Diego visiting with my wife's family. If I'm not mistaken, I caught this shot while we were waiting to get started with the busiest day of getting car repairs, eating breakfast food for one of the last times, and filling out sale paperwork at a bank as well as the California DMV (a truly harrowing task). So, I'm almost positive something got lost in translation here. I didn't have a job for the duration of my time in Korea. As a result, I would sometimes have plenty of free time to do pretty much whatever I want. One day, I rode the train to the next town over, Uijeongbu, and played around with my fancy new Samyang 14mm cine lens. This was one of the results. For those of you who are familiar with life in Korean cities, the sky really WAS that clear that day. I didn't even need to wear a mask or anything! I play Warhammer 40K. It's a whole lot of fun on a number of different levels. So, naturally, when I came back to America and was reunited with my beloved Tau, I played a game with my friend, Joel. Without boring you with unnecessary details, I'll let you know that these particular models are incredibly frustrating and were even more so because they were behind what we had decided to call a force field which wa... I'm starting to get into the technical details. Right. Well, I had surrounded these models and thought it would be a cool shot to see his black and orange models surrounded by my brown models, especially because throwing mine out of focus helped to conceal their numbers. If you look carefully throughout this photo, you can see at least four of my Tau units. It was a good game. One of my bros, Jeremy, got married this Summer. As is fairly standard for weddings held earlier in the day, there was still a lot of daylight and more than a few friends that still wanted to hang out after the official festivities ceased. So we went to a local ice cream joint, Ivanhoes. After we'd finished our sundaes and shakes, one of the guys produced a Frisbee which led to a great deal of fun. Scott, still dressed in his wedding clothes, committed just a little too much to this catch. Fortunately for him, I was in the right place to make sure his catch was not in vain. Finally, we arrive to Joel. Joel has been one of my best friends since 2001 when he stole my girlfriend. He tells the story much better than I do. Anyhow, this was at camp during one of the recreation periods. What is not clear here is the megaphone hanging at Joel's side; this was used to great effect throughout the week, and he is quite proud of it. I happened to have my camera and the look of determination he held while in conversation with another volunteer just begged me to make this photo. Normally, I crop photos down to 16:9 because I'm a videographer first and a photographer second. However, I loved this shot straight out of the camera so much that I couldn't bring myself to crop it down. This concludes my transmission of the first ever Photo Friday on UriahPittman.com. Thanks for reading. Let me know in the comments what kind of photos you want to see more of in the future! DFTBA, Uriah
